After read from blogkayu, I want to share another story to.. For early year (2007) I’m just completely move from windows to open source operating system… Hm… I Thinks not completely 100% move… Because 90% computer at my office using windows, sometimes I’m still using windows.. but not at my PC (using other employee PC).
- For working documents, spreadsheet and presentation, I’m using OpenOffice 2.3.
- For Chatting with Yahoo and MSN, I’m using Pidgin
- For Browsing, blogging and Surfing, I’m using Firefox 2.0.0.8
- For Image and Graphics editing, I’m using The Gimp (same as Photoshop and Corel Draw).
- For Playing music (like Itunes), I’m using Amarok
- For Watching Movie (like WM Classic, Power DVD and dll… ) I’m using VLC or Totem or Media Player.
Thats all is more then enough to enjoy using computer day to day.
This is my beautiful desktop screenshot, using Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibon) and Compiz Fusion :
When you switch from one application to another Application (Alt+Tab)
3D Desktop With Reflection. It’s Amazing…. The Movie Still Playing even you rotate the cube. Every window have Different 3D Level (bevel)
Avant Window Navigator, Like Mac OS. It’s animated when you move your pointer into icon and disappear when you close the window application (Like picture - Right Icon)
Life Preview…. Like Vista
You can burn your desktop with click the desktop. Your desktop is not freeze, you can still work (play movie, working documents or working with Gimp)
Not like Vista, you can customize window effect. This picture is explode effect when closing application
Same like explode effect. This is burn effect when minimize application.
It’s called expo desktop. You can watch your desktop with another perspective.
Some many other customization that I can show here… you can tried install and make experiment with your desktop. Don’t even thinks that I’m using a great VGA like G-force or ATI , I’m only using Intel share VGA.
Don’t still have imaged that Linux is difficult than windows. May be you are more often using windows, so you have become accustomed with windows or microsoft.
Try it… and enjoy it…

Wah keren banget ya, Ubuntu memang TOB! Saya baru aja kelar install hari ini di laptop baru saya hehehe. Nanti ga mo kalah ikutan pasang screenshot deh.

- Untuk Webcam, Autodetect. Aku sendiri belum pernah coba, cuman di forum2x, selama ini tidak pernah ada masalah dengan webcam

ubuntu 7.10 + compiz emang keren abizzzzzzzzzzzz
the best dah, jadi udah jarang males pakai windows buat kerja deh hehehehehe
eh iya itu desktop themes mac pakai apa yah, taskbar ama panel2nya jadi mirip mac, plus ada widget jam hehehehehe mohon pencerahan dari pakar

Wew keren desktop nya. Gua dulu juga sempat make SuSe ama Mandriva. Permasalahannya ama Linux itu yg bagi gua agak mengganggu yaitu kompartibilitas Hardware ama Game.
Secara awak kan orang awam. Kedepannya kalau masalah ini sudah teratasi, gua pasti pengen make lagi.
